From a customizable yet very easy to use interface, from digiKam’s user friendly interface, you can access lots of useful functionality – functionality that will help you efficiently manage a collection of photos. You can view the photos in your collection, you can review the details of each photo in your collection, you can sit back and enjoy a nice slideshow, you can stitch images together and create a panorama, you can perform many other actions.

digiKam is available for Windows, Mac OS X, FreeBSD, and multiple Linux distributions. Focusing on Windows alone, it must be said that a wizard will help you install and configure the digital photo management application. You will get to choose where to keep your images, choose where to store information and metadata about your images, choose how to open RAW images in the editor, choose how images are displayed in preview mode and on the Light Table, choose how images are opened, and choose if you want contextual tooltips to be displayed.

As mentioned above, digiKam has a user friendly interface that can be customized. From the View Menu you can pick one of several view modes, you can choose how albums and images are sorted, you can choose how images are grouped, and more. From the Settings Menu you can switch from the default theme to some other theme and you can edit all available themes.

There is a lot you can do with digiKam. To keep things nice and short, I am just going to enumerate some of the main features you can easily access from digiKam’s user friendly interface: view images; rotate and flip images; find similar images; rename, delete images; assign tags and labels to images; search for images; view image properties, geolocation info and metadata; create photo layouts; create calendars; stitch images together to create a panorama; convert RAW images to DNG; apply effects to images; access tons of import and export options.

digiKam is free and open-source software released under a GNU General Public License (GPL).

View, edit, manage photos with the greatest of ease. You only need to get the free and open-source digiKam photo management tool.
